Klawervlei’s G1 winning sire Seventh Rock had an eye catching juvenile winner at the Vaal on Tuesday, when the Hemel ‘n Aarde bred Rockin Russian made a stylish winning debut over 1200m for champion trainer Sean Tarry, who also part-owns the filly in partnership with Dr and Mr Bakos and George Nichas.

Rockin Russian, who stayed on stoutly to defeat favourite Let It Flow by a length, was a R150 000 buy from last year’s Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale and she looks a filly of promise.

The filly is bred on the same Seventh Rock/National Emblem cross as former Equus Champion Seventh Plain, whose victories included the G1 Gold Medallion and G1 Golden Horseshoe. Seventh Plain, who has earned more than R2.7 million, also holds an entry in the 2017 G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint.

Seventh Rock, whose other notable runners include the G1 winning 2yo Guiness and Algoa Cup hero Stonehenge, has 23 lots on offer at the upcoming Klawervlei Farm Sale, which takes place at Klawervlei on June 17th.

His Farm Sale draft includes a half-brother to G2 CTS Southern Cross Sprint winner Jo’s Bond (Lot 15), a colt (bred on the Seventh Rock/National Emblem cross) out of G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship runner up Main Emblem (Lot 31), a filly out of a half-sister to dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club (Lot 34), a colt out of a stakes winning daughter of Galileo (Lot 35),  a half-sister to G3 winner Fortissima (Lot 67), and a daughter of a G3 placed own sister to successful SA sire Caesour from the family of champions Ajdal and Arazi (Lot
