Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion Twice Over was represented by his fifth first crop winner when his Northfields Stud bred son Do It Again made a winning debut at Kenilworth on Tuesday.

The impeccably bred Do It Again, who started tote favourite, showed his class in Tuesday’s race, when overcoming a slow start and staying on smartly, under jockey Bernard Fayd’Herbe to deny promising first timer Hemingway victory by a short head over 1200m. It was an impressive debut performance by a two-year-old whose sire won G1 races up to 2092m and whose dam won the G3 Winter Derby over 2400m!

Trained by Justin Snaith, and owned by Nic Jonsson, Bernard Kantor, and Jack Mitchell, Do It Again is the latest impressive winner to have emerged from Twice Over’s first crop of two-year-olds.

Other first crop winners sired by the four time G1 winner include undefeated G1 Tsogo Sun Gold Medallion winner Sand And Sea (a leading Equus Award contender), as well as Lacerta, Twice A Dancer and Rock My Soul.

Another son of Twice Over, Draugluin, made a promising debut when second over 1200m at Scottsville on Sunday and he will surely not be a maiden for long!

Twice Over has now been represented by 12 runners from his first crop who have won or finished in the money.

Former European Champion Twice Over, has also made his mark in yearlings sales around the country this year, with a colt by him fetching R2.1 million at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale earlier in the year, and another Twice Over yearling colt topping the recent KZN Yearling Sale.
