BIG WEEKEND FOR TAPIT

Klawervlei Stud is home to the well performed COUP DE GRACE –the only son of outstanding sire Tapit currently standing at stud in South Africa.
Already champion sire 3 times in the US, Tapit and his progeny go from strength to strength, with Tapit enjoying another big weekend over the past few days.

The Gainesway Farm based Tapit, whose progeny have already amassed in excess of $181 million, was responsible for 3 impressive stakes winners over the past weekend, with his sons MARCONI and ROTATION capturing the Grand Prix American Jockey Club Stakes and G2 Super Derby respectively, and daughter PRINCESA CAROLINA capturing the Fifth Third Dueling Grounds Oaks.
Tapit, also broodmare sire of Saturday’s Kentucky Downs Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes winner CAMBRIA and Arlington-Washington Futurity hero FLAP JACK , also enjoyed success as a sire of sires this weekend, with his promising son RACE DAY responsible for Saturday’s Arlington-Washington Lassie Stakes victress MOM’S RED LIPSTICK.

At the time of writing, Tapit ranks second on the US General Sires List by earnings, but the ever-green son of Pulpit has been responsible for more US stakes winners in 2019 than all of INTO MISCHIEF, GIANT’S CAUSEWAY, QUALITY ROAD, CANDY RIDE, MEDAGLIA D’ORO and SCAT DADDY.

His son COUP DE GRACE, the Leading First Crop Sire by Aggregate at the 2019 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, ranked among the fastest horses of his generation, with Coup De Generation winning both the G2 Amsterdam and G3 Bay Shore Stakes and finishing third in the G1 King’s Bishop Stakes.

Coup De Grace’s eagerly awaited first crop race this season.
