DINGAANS TRIUMPH FOR CAPTAIN OF ALL

Klawervlei Stud’s promising young sire CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al), South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire of 2018-2019, made headlines at Turffontein on Saturday when his son SHANGO captured the G2 TAB/Betting World Dingaans in impressive fashion.

In the process, the Heritage Stud bred colt (a first graded stakes winner for his sire) became the third stakes winner to have emerged from Captain Of All’s stellar first crop following WHAT YOU ARE (Devon Air Stakes) and CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY (East Cape Fillies Nursery).

Shango, who looked a picture on Saturday, stormed home to record a decisive 2.75 length win in Saturday’s 1600m, while accounting for graded stakes winners FROSTED GOLD and COCKNEY PRIDE (last season’s G1 winner EDEN ROC finished five lengths back) in decisive fashion to record the second win of his career.

One of four winners on the day for trainer Sean Tarry, and ridden to victory by Gavin Lerena, Shango races for owners Chris Van Niekerk and Bruce Gardener.

The talented Shango, who appears a classic hope in the making, was one of three winners for his triple G1 winning sire on Saturday. Shango’s paternal half-sister CAPITIANA made it two wins from just three starts when scoring a facile win for trainer Geoff Woodruff, owner Tommy Shawe and breeder the Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud over 1000m at Turffontein to give Captain Of All a 100% strike rate at Turffontein for the day.

Captain Of All also supplied the first Cape raced two-year-old winner for 2019-2020 when his daughter CAPTAIN’S FLO made a winning debut over 900 metres. The Piet Botha trained filly (who was bred by Millstream Farm) made a smart first appearance when accounting for favourite THOMAS HENRY (Querari) by a length and a quarter while winning for owners Mesdames Botha & de Nobrega, and Messrs Caris, Kahan, le Roux, Nel, and Rwizi.
