FIRST STAKES WINNER FOR CAPTAIN OF ALL

Klawervlei’s exciting young stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has made a very bright start to his stud career, and the Riverton Stud bred champion made more news on Friday when his first-crop daughter CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY won the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery at Fairview racecourse.

Trained by Tara Laing, the Gavin Venter owned two-year-old showed tremendous heart in Friday’s R150 000 feature, with Captain Anne Bonny digging down deep when challenged by the favourite BRANDINA, before going on to claim victory, under jockey Chase Maujean, by a neck over the very talented favourite.

Bred by Klawervlei, Captain Anne Bonny, who was making just her third career start, is a third first crop winner for her multiple G1 winning sire, whose previous winners include WHAT YOU ARE and GUANTANAMO BAY.

To date, Captain Of All has been represented by 11 first crop runners who have either won or finished in the money.

One of 19 G1 winners sired by Klawervlei’s late, great sire Captain Al (whose son WILLIAM LONGSWORD stands alongside Captain Of All at Klawervlei), Captain Of All was an exceptional racehorse who won or placed in 11 of 12 outings and earned over R2.2 million.
Of the very best sprinters in the world in 2015 (according to LONGINES World’s Best Racehorse Rankings), Captain Of All captured a trio of G1 races –the G1 Gold Medallion, G1 Tsogo Sun Sprint and G1 Mercury Sprint, while accounting for some truly exceptional champions.

Yet another superb advert for the quality of horse offered at the Klawervlei Farm Sale, Captain Of All has eight lots on offer at the 2019 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale including a half-sister (Lot 260) to the useful performers TOP OF THE CLASS and TUTORIAL, a colt (Lot273) from the family of G1 winners COUNTER ACTION, DIVINE FASHION and PERFECT ORDER, and a colt (Lot 347) is very closely related to the talented Captain Al sired stakes winners CAPTAIN IN COMMAND and CANADIAN SUNSET.
