FIVE WINNERS IN THREE DAYS FOR TWICE OVER

Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) has been in great form of late, with the European champion responsible for five local winners over three days recently.

Twice Over’s five most recent winners included several very impressive looking performers, as well as an eye catching debut winner on Saturday.

On Thursday, Twice Over had a pair of winners at Turffontein, with the Klawervlei based sire’s daughters OVER THE LIMIT and TWICE AS SPECIAL landing their respective races.

The following day, saw Twice Over’s three-year-old daughter RUBY DAWN get off the mark, when victorious at Fairview for trainer Alan Greeff and jockey Teaque Gould.

Bred by Applewood Trading (Pty) Ltd t/a Ndoro Stud, Ruby Dawn had been third on debut before romping home over 1200m to score by a length and a quarter for owner Marc Greene.

Her in-form sire Twice Over had further success on Saturday, with the dual G1 Champion Stakes winning having success at both Durbanville and Turffontein on Saturday.

Trainer Justin Snaith (who handles Twice Over’s dual Vodacom Durban July winning son DO IT AGAIN) sent out the Twice Over gelding DOUBLE THE FUN to romp home by 3.5 lengths, when shedding his maiden over 1600m at Durbanville on Saturday.

The lightly raced Double The Fun, who clearly relished the step up to 1600m, was sent out a warm 9-10 favourite for Saturday’s race, and duly won as he liked for owners Nick Jonsson and the Estate of the late Jack Mitchell.

Inbred to Blushing Groom, like his sire’s G1 winner SAND AND SEA, Double The Fun was bred by the Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm.

Twice Over was also responsible for a very impressive looking debut winner on Saturday. His Candice Dawson trained 3yo daughter BALLET SHOES stormed home, from well off the pace, to get up close home and score a 0.4 of a length win first time out for owners Ralphs Racing, while accounting for a daughter of outstanding sire UNCLE MO.

The nicely bred three-year-old Ballet Shoes was bred by Klawervlei Stud.

From the same family as multiple G1 winner and Breeders’ Cup hope YOSHIDA, Twice Over made a superb start to his stud career, with the four time G1 winner’s first crop having already produced eight stakes horses including Horse Of The Year Do It Again.
