FOURTH FIRST CROP WINNER FOR CAPTAIN OF ALL

Champion Sprinter CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has made a bright start with his first 2yos this season and the triple G1 winner was responsible for a fourth first crop winner when his son CARTEL CAPTAIN made a winning debut at Scottsville on Sunday.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the colt (second in a barrier trial on his only previous racecourse appearance) stayed on smartly to score a fitting win for trainer Dennis Drier –who had saddled Captain Of All himself.

Owned by Messrs Pitman, Collins, D Pitman, WG Drier, and Miss C and Mrs G Drier, Cartel Captain was a R100 000 buy from the 2018 March Yearling Sale.

Cartel Captain joins the likes of Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery winner CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY, GUANTANAMO BAY and WHAT YOU ARE as early winners from Captain Of All’s exciting first crop.

One of the very best sons of Klawervlei’s late great sire CAPTAIN AL, Captain Of All was South Africa’s Champion Sprinter of 2014-2015 and earned more than R2 million during his career.

The outstanding sprinter has eight lots on this week’s Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, including a half-sister (Lot 260) to smart stakes performer TOP OF THE CLASS, a ¾ brother (Lot 381) to Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes winner ONLY EMILY, and a filly (Lot 521) out of Lady’s Pendant winner SERVILIA.
