G1 DOUBLE FOR TAPIT SIRE SONS

Gainesway Farm’s great stallion TAPIT (Pulpit) continues to make waves as a sire of sires, and Tapit sons were responsible for a pair of impressive G1 winning two-year-olds this weekend.

Tapit’s son FLASHBACK (who like Klawervlei’s own resident sire ROYAL MO (Uncle Mo), won the Robert B. Lewis Stakes), came up with his first G1 winner, when his promising two-year-old daughter BRITISH IDIOM romped home to land the G1 Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland on Friday in devastating fashion.

Now unbeaten in two starts, British Idiom stamped herself a leading contender for the upcoming G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies when romping home to win by six and a half lengths on Friday.

Tapit’s hugely exciting dual G1 winning son CONSTITUTION once again reiterated the fact he is an exceptionally exciting young sire, when his son TIZ THE LAW romped home to land the historic G1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday. Now unbeaten in two starts, Tiz The Law (a member of his sire’s outstanding first crop) romped home to a four length win in Saturday’s feature (a race won previously by the likes of SCAT DADDY, ALYDAR, UNCLE MO and FORTY NINER), and he looks an exciting future prospect.

Constitution, whose other notable first crop performers include the graded stakes winners BY YOUR SIDE and AMALFI SUNRISE, went close to having a G1 double himself over the weekend with his son GOUVERNEUR MORRIS ran second in the G1 Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (a son of Tapit ran third in that race) at Keeneland on Saturday.

Flashback and Constitution joins the likes of TAPIZAR and CONCORD POINT as G1 producing sons of Tapit, and this list looks sure to grow considerably over time! (Another promising sire son of Tapit, five time graded stakes winner TAPITURE, was responsible for a TDN Rising Star on Saturday when his first-crop two-year-old daughter SPECIALLY romped home to win by more than five lengths at Keeneland).
Klawervlei Stud is currently the only farm in South Africa standing a son of Tapit in the form of lightning fast, dual graded stakes winner COUP DE GRACE.
The latter, whose first crop race this season, won impressively over six furlongs on debut before going on to win both the G2 Amsterdam and G3 Bay Shore Stakes at three.
