Klawervlei Stud’s triple G1 winning champion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has made a very promising start to his stud career and the former Equus Champion was represented by his seventh first crop winner when his two-year-old son SELF ASSURED made a winning debut at Fairview on Friday.

Trained by Yvette Bremner, and ridden to victory by champion jockey Lyle Hewitson, the Moutonshoek bred Self Assured simply bolted up when running out a 3.75 length winner on debut –while scoring in open company.

Racing for the Estate of the late Chris Gerber in partnership with Hedley McGrath, Self Assured is the seventh first crop winner for his exciting young sire.

Captain Of All, one of the very best sons of Klawervlei’s late, great sire Captain Al, has made a very bright start with his first two-year-olds this season, with his previous winners including the stakes winners CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY and WHAT YOU ARE.

Captain Of All could be on the cusp of a big pay day, with What You Are a contender for the upcoming G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper and his sons CAPTAIN MORGANE and CARTEL CAPTAIN runners in the same day’s G2 Durban Golden Horseshoe. (Another daughter RAINBOW UNICORN is the reserve runner for the Golden Slipper).

Currently one of South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sires by stakes, Captain Of All has eight lots on offer at the upcoming KZN Yearling Sale including a colt (Lot 135) out of a three time winning Jet Master mare whose relatives include former July winner HEAVY METAL and 2019 Vodacom Durban July contender TWIST OF FATE.
