SECOND WINNER FOR CAPTAIN OF ALL

SECOND WINNER FOR CAPTAIN OF ALL

Klawervlei Stud’s exciting young stallion, and former Equus Champion Sprinter, CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has made a promising start to his stud career and the triple G1 winner was responsible for a second first crop winner when his 2yo son GUANTANAMO BAY won at the Vaal on Thursday afternoon.

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the Dorrie Sham trained Guantanamo Bay showed the value of experience as he built on a first out effort to win going away by a length over 1000m under jockey S’Manga Khumalo on Thursday –leaving some exceptionally promising and well bred two-year-olds trailing in his wake.

Guantanamo Bay joins the promising filly WHAT YOU ARE as early first crop winners for Captain Of All. The latter, to date, has already had six members of his first crop either win or finish in the money –with the promise of plenty more to come.
Bred by Riverton Stud, and a former Klawervlei Farm Sale graduate, Captain Of All won or placed in 11 of 12 outings, won three G1 races and was South Africa’s Equus Champion Sprinter of 2014-2015.

A true champion, and G1 winner at two and four, Captain Of All accounted for some of the best horses of his generation, including CARRY ON ALICE, LEGISLATE, WILLOW MAGIC, and NORMANZ.

Like seven times champion sire JET MASTER, Captain Of All won both the G1 Tsogso Sun Sprint and G1 Mercury Sprint.

One of the very best sons of Klawervlei Stud’s late, great sire CAPTAIN AL, Captain Of All has an exceptional, ten strong draft on offer at next month’s Cape Yearling Sale, with his yearlings on sale including a filly (Lot 74) out of the speedy DYNASTY mare HOUSE OF LORRAINE, a filly (Lot 76) from the family of this season’s G2 Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile winner CORAL FEVER, a colt (Lot 98) from the same female line as the likes of POLISH PRECEDENT and ZILZAL and a filly (Lot 162) out of the Jet Master sired Syringa Handicap winner START ME UP.
