UNDERCOVER AGENT TO STAY IN TRAINING ANOTHER SEASON

After discussion and consultation with trainer Brett Crawford and jockey Corne Orffer, Braam Van Huyssteen and Greg Bortz have elected to keep their brilliant UNDERCOVER AGENT (Captain Al) in training for another season.

In effect, Undercover Agent will now retire to Klawervlei Stud for the 2020 breeding season, where he will join an increasingly successful band of stallions.

The brilliant bay took his earnings to R5 000 000 this season, with Undercover Agent downing G1 winners RAINBOW BRIDGE (Ideal World), LADY IN BLACK (Dynasty), WILL PAYS (Imperial Stride) and SAND AND SEA (Twice Over) to lift the spoils in the 2019 G2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes. He also accounted for the likes of dual Vodacom DurbanJuly winner DO IT AGAIN (Twice Over) and multiple G1 winner RAINBOW BRIDGE when second in last season’s G2 Green Point Stakes at Kenilworth.
Now a winner of seven, Undercover Agent has won or placed in four G1 features thus far, and scored a notable feat when capturing the G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge last year, when he accounted for such G1 winners as SNOWDANCE (Captain Al), SAIL SOUTH (Sail From Seattle) and CAPTAIN AMERICA (Captain Al).

Undercover Agent is one of 21 G1 winners sired by Klawervlei’s late, great stallion CAPTAIN AL (Al Mufti), whose triple G1 winning son, and Klawervlei Farm Sale graduate, CAPTAIN OF ALL was recently crowned Champion First Crop Sire in South Africa for 2018-2019.

A three-parts brother to Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes winner ONLY EMILY (Captain Al), Undercover Agent is out of Winter Oaks winner SECRET RISK, and his first three dams are all stakes performers.

Further back, this is the same female line as one of the greatest racehorse ever to compete in the Southern Hemisphere –CARBINE.

Undercover Agent’s first year stud fee will be announced at a later date.
