Klawervlei Stud’s successful young stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) enjoyed more feature race success on Friday when his son SULLENBERGER captured the Fairview Merchants (Non-Black Type) over 1200 metres. Victorious in the 2020 Speedsters Stakes, the Alan Greeff trained gelding ended star three-year-old GLOBAL DRUMMER (Global View)’s unbeaten run in the Eastern Cape when he landed Friday’s Merchants. Under Shadlee Fortune, the David Allan bred four-year-old came with a strong late run to get up close home and win going away by a length and a quarter.
Owned by Harry Govender, Sullenberger has now won five times, with the gelding having scored from 1000-1200m. He is one of several high-class performers to have emerged from Captain Of All’s first crop, which saw the Equus Champion Sprinter of 2014-2015 emerge as South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2018-2019. Other notable performers to have emerged from this crop include G2 TAB/Betting World Dingaans hero SHANGO and the stakes-winning fillies CAPTAIN ANNE BONNY and WHAT YOU ARE. Captain Of All has eight lots on the Cape Yearling Sale and a further four lots on the Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
