Klawervlei Stud’s four-time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) came up with a very impressive debut winner when his son SMORGASBORD won at Turffontein on Saturday.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, the two-year-old Smorgasbord proved far too speedy for his rivals, as the Twice Over colt won Saturday’s first race in fine style.

Trained by Paul Peter, Smorgasbord pulled clear of his chasing rivals, under a positive ride from Warren Kennedy, before going on to post a three and a quarter length win over 1160 metres.

Smorgasbord, who races for Messrs J F & L M F Wernars & Mr H Willson & Mrs T J Wernars, was a R460 000 buy from the 2020 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

The colt, whose connections hold him in high regard, holds an entry in the G2 SA Nursery, to be run at Turffontein on May 1st.

His sire, whose progeny also include dual Vodacom Durban July winning champion DO IT AGAIN and R3 million plus earner INVIDIA, proved very popular at the recent National Yearling Sale.

Twice Over had 10 yearlings gross R3.1 million, with John Freeman spending R1 400 000 to acquire the Drakenstein Stud bred Twice Over colt Mucho Dinero.
