Klawervlei Stud capped a wonderful season with KOMMETDIEDING and LINEBACKER finishing first and second respectively in the G1 Vodacom Durban July, at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday.
Kommetdieding’s story is a remarkable fairy tale and I would like to thank all involved in this story.
- With a first July victory for the training partnership of Michelle Rix and Harold Crawford, it was a dream come true.
- This was only the 2nd time a women trainer has won this prestigious event.
- For the proud owner Ashwin Reynolds, his support for his “KOMET” was extraordinary and this spectacular commitment reflects well on the future of the Industry.
- It was jockey Gavin Lerena’s first Durban July win.
- It was the first Durban July win for a Klawervlei bred horse of which we are immensely proud.
Remarkably, both horses have ties to the Klawervlei Farm Sale, Kommetdieding being a R55 000 buy from the 2019 Farm Sale, and Linebacker being sired by former Klawervlei Farm Sale graduate, Captain Of All.
On a personal note, I would like to dedicate this amazing run to my brother Charles Koster and to the legacy of three generations of horsemen in our family.
John Koster
