Star sire UNCLE MO (Indian Charlie), whose talented son ROYAL MO stands at Klawervlei Stud, looks to have another top-class performer in the form of three-year-old GOLDEN PAL.
The latter, unraced since winning last year’s G2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint, put up a smashing performance to win Thursday’s G3 Quick Call Stakes in devastating fashion.Pounded down to 1-5 favoritism while making his first start since being acquired privately by the Coolmore partners and Georg von Opel’s Westerberg from his breeder Randall Lowe, the bay looked like a winner every step of the way, clicking off splits of :21.92 and :44.88 without much company and cruising away to a geareddown three-length victory in 1:02.99 over the good ground.
Golden Pal is expected to take on the G1 Coolmore Wootton Bassett Nunthorpe S. at York Aug. 20.
Now a winner of three of just five starts (he was also runner up in last year’s G2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot), Golden Pal is one of more than 70 stakes winners sired by champion Uncle Mo, whose other sire sons include the G1 sires NYQUIST and LAOBAN.
Uncle Mo’s only son at stud in South Africa is the talented ROYAL MO -winner of the G3 Robert B.Lewis Stakes and third in the G1 Santa Anita Derby.
Royal Mo’s eagerly awaited first crop race in 2021-2022.
