Klawervlei Stud’s July winning sire POMODORO (Jet Master) continues to churn out the winners, and the former Leading First Season Sire of his year came up with two more winners over the past weekend.
Pomodoro’s first success this weekend came when his talented son LEOPOLD romped home to win impressively at Turffontein on Saturday.
Winner of the 2019 Listed Secretariat Stakes, the Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained gelding put daylight between himself and his rivals when scoring a more than three and a half-length win over 1600m on Saturday. Bred by Highlands Farms Stud, the gelded son of Pomodoro races for GreenStreetBloodstock(Pty)Ltd & Messrs OHall, H Haralambous, A Joannides, JF&LMF Wernars.
Pomodoro’s second win this weekend came when his son COMMAND CONTROL came from near the back of the field to win going away at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Sunday. Trained by Shane Humby, the Klawervlei Stud-bred Command Control made it three wins from his last five starts, when running on strongly, under Donovan Dillon to win by a long neck over 1800m. The five-year-old son of Pomodoro races for Messrs G R Almanza & T Govender & Mr D & Dr S M Hepburn-Brown.
