Klawervlei Stud’s homebred Cape Guineas winning stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) enjoyed another fine weekend this past week, while confirming his position as an extremely exciting young sire.

Not only did William Longsword’s son HASTA MANANA land Sunday’s Listed Model Man Mile, William Longsword also had an eye catching winner at Kenilworth the previous day in the form of TIZONA.

The Gareth Van Zyl trained Hasta Manana stamped himself a three-year-old to follow this season when he run away with Sunday’s Listed Model Man Mile. Ridden by Anton Marcus, the Rathmor Stud-bred Hasta Manana came with a sweeping late run, which saw the William Longsword gelding pull clear in the closing stages and win going away by more than a length and a half.

Owned by Mario Ferreira, the well bred Hasta Manana has won two of his last three starts and looks another progressive sort for his exciting young sire.

Trainer Justin Snaith sent out William Longsword gelding Tizona to break his maiden in eye catching fashion at Kenilworth on Saturday. Under Richard Fourie, the Klawervlei Stud bred three-year-old pulled well clear in the final stages of Saturday’s race to win by a length and three-quarters.

Runner up in his two previous starts, Tizona is owned by Mesdames A M Doyle & Paul Shanahan, Mr B Kantor & Klawervlei Stud.

Understandably, William Longsword’s two-year-olds also proved popular at Sunday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale, with the son of Captain Al ending up as the sale’s Leading Sire by Aggregate. William Longsword had 13 lots gross R2.4 million-placing him above such stellar sires as GIMMETHEGREENLIGHT (More Than Ready), WHAT A WINTER (Western Winter), MASTER OF MY FATE (Jet Master), and QUERARI (Oasis Dream).

Already the sire of the likes of DYCE, SAFE RETURN and REMEMBER WHEN, William Longsword has three colts on offer at the upcoming November Two Year Old Sale.
