Klawervlei Stud’s four-time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) supplied a pair of winners in South Africa on Saturday, with his son BOWIE landing Saturday’s World Sports Betting Heritage Consolation and Twice Over filly REGINA ISABELLA winning a good race at Kenilworth on the same day.

The Sean Tarry trained Bowie showed his mettle when storming home, under recent Summer Cup winning jockey Calvin Habib, to land the WSB Heritage Consolation (1475m) by nearly a length and a quarter. Bred by Narrow Creek Stud, Bowie (who races for the Hollywood Syndicate) has now won three times for earnings of in excess of R340 000. The uber consistent gelding has either won or been placed in 17 of his 22 starts, and Bowie is unlikely to stop here!

Regina Isabella provided Twice Over with another win when that Justin Snaith trained filly ran out a game winner of the sixth race at Kenilworth on Saturday. The Klawervlei Stud bred four-year-old was given a great ride by Keagan De Melo, who kept his mount going strongly to account for promising three-year-old FORRIES FOREVER (Dynasty) by a length.

Owned by Mrs S Viljoen, Countess S Labia & Messrs Stewart Beckett & D Musikanth, Regina Isabella had been placed in her two previous races prior to Saturday’s win.

Her sire TWICE OVER, also responsible for dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner DO IT AGAIN and G1 winning two-year-old SAND AND SEA, has eight lots on offer at the 2022 Cape Premier Yearling Sale.
