Klawervlei Stud’s champion sprinter and increasingly successful sire CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) looks to have come up with another bright prospect in the form of promising two-year-old TROMPIE.

The latter made a brilliant, winning debut at Kenilworth on Sunday when winning as he liked, and Trompie looks an exciting prospect for the season ahead. Trained by Vaughan Marshall (who also conditions Captain Of All’s top-class son, and Met runner, LINEBACKER), Trompie was backed down to start tote favourite for the third race at Kenilworth, and duly lived up to expectations.

Under Richard Fourie, the Beaumont Stud bred colt came with a strong run down the inside of the track before powering away to win by an emphatic three and a quarter lengths. Owned by Rod Matthheyse, Trompie looks set for bigger and bigger things.

His triple G1 winning sire Captain Of All, whose progeny not only include the aforementioned Linebacker but also the likes of SHANGO and SPRINGS OF CARMEL, has 11 lots on the upcoming Cape Premier Yearling Sale including a half-brother (Lot 33) to Saturday’s winner ESCAPE ARTIST (Pomodoro), a colt (Lot 38) out of Listed Oaks Trial winner EPSOM DOWNS (Tiger Ridge), and a filly (Lot 94) out of a four time winning daughter of MORE THAN READY (Southern Halo).
