Klawervlei Stud’s inform sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) has some top-class three-year-olds to his name this season, and the former European champion enjoyed more success with his sophomores when Twice Over’s son RESONATE won the Listed Ibhayi Stakes at Fairview on Friday afternoon.

A second Listed winner on the day for trainer Candice Bass-Robinson, Resonate was given an uber confident ride by Grant Van Niekerk. The latter, who had won the previous feature aboard SANTA MARIA (Trippi) allowed Resonate to settle at the back of the field in Friday’s feature, before bringing Resonate with a sustained late run which saw the pair power away to down Equus Champion, and G1 winner, GOOD TRAVELLER (Visionaire), by a length. It was another five and a quarter lengths back to third place finisher SAFARI BLUE (What A Winter).

Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, the gelded Resonate has now won three of his eight starts for owners Mike Fullard and James Drew and he looks sure to add further to this tally.

His sire TWICE OVER is enjoying a sensational season with his three-year-olds headed by G1 Cape Guineas winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE and other talented sorts SENSO UNICO and SMORGASBORD, to name but a few.

Also sire of dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner, and former Horse Of The Year, DO IT AGAIN, Twice Over made headlines when his Klawervlei consigned son made R2 000 000 to top the recent Cape Premier Yearling Sale.

The former European champion has four lots on offer at Sunday’s Cape Yearling Sale.
