Klawervlei Stud’s bang inform stallion, and former European champion, TWICE OVER (Observatory) had another fine weekend this past week.
Not only was the four time G1 winning Twice Over responsible for a trio of winners over the weekend, his G2 Senor Santa Stakes winning son SMORGASBORD caught the eye when finishing third in Saturday’s G1 Golden Horse Sprint at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.
Twice Over looks to have come up with a really smart two-year-old this season in the form of GRINKOV. The latter made it two wins in a row when romping home to a clear-cut, near two and a quarter length win over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsvile on Saturday afternoon. Trained by Glen Kotzen, the Normandy Stud bred Grinkov had finished third in both the G3 Cape Racing Cape Of Good Hope Nursery and Listed City Of Cape Summer Juvenile Stakes earlier in the season. Owned by Messrs K and P Govender, Glen Kotzen, S Naidoo and P Naidoo, Grinkov could be aimed at the G1 Premiers Champion Stakes at the end of the season.
His sire Twice Over had also enjoyed success in Fairview on Friday afternoon where his lightly raced Drakenstein Stud bred daughter ANGEL DEB’S broke her maiden over 1000m. Trained by Duncan McKenzie, three-year-old Angel Deb’s had finished second at her previous outing for owners Robin Strydom and Duncan McKenzie.
Twice Over’s good form continued at Kenilworth on Sunday where his Klawervlei Stud bred daughter ZIPPY OVER won the first race for Justin Snaith, Richard Fourie and owners Mr Cuvelier and the Meaker family.
Sire of this season’s brilliant G1 Cape Guineas winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE and the evergreen recent G2 World Sports Betting 1900 winner DO IT AGAIN, among many others, Twice Over has a single lot on offer at the upcoming CTS Farm Yearling Sale, and three lots on offer at the 2022 KZN Yearling Sale.
