Klawervlei Stud’s G1 Vodacom Durban July winning sire POMODORO (Jet Master) has some very promising two-year-olds to his name this season, and he came up with yet another smart juvenile winner when his son WITHOUT EQUAL scored an eye catching win at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon.

Trained, like his sire, by Sean Tarry, Without Equal raced well off the pace for much of the running in Tuesday’s TAB 4Racing App Maiden Juvenile Plate (1400m), before flying up to win in the shadow of the post, under jockey Keagan De Melo. Third last time out, the Klawervlei Stud bred Without Equal races for Kenny Govender in partnership with Sean Tarry Racing  (Pty) Ltd.

The gelding is the eighth two-year-old winner for Pomodoro this season, with Pomodoro currently above the likes of TRIPPI (End Sweep), VERCINGETORIX (Silvano) and VAR (Forest Wildcat) on this season’s Leading Sires of 2YOs table.

Without Equal is also the second winner for Pomodoro in two days, with the sire also responsible for Monday’s winner METEORIC.

South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro’s progeny also include the talented BLACK THORN – a leading fancy for Saturday’s G3 DSTV Gold Vase.
