Klawervlei Stud’s homebred sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) had a notable KwaZulu-Natal double over the past two days.
Not only did William Longsword’s beautifully bred daughter VIRGINIA SWEET score at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday, another daughter of the sire, LADY MACBETH, won at Hollywoodbets Greyville the following day.
Bred and owned by Lammerskraal Stud, two-year-old Virginia Sweet made a big impression on Sunday when romping home to shed her maiden impressively. The Glen Kotzen trained filly, and tote favourite, hit the front a long way from home in Sunday’s tabgold-The Intelligent Bet! Maiden Plate, and was ridden out hands and heels, by Richard Fourie, to win by nearly three lengths.
A half-sister to champion DO IT AGAIN (Twice Over), Virginia Sweet had finished second last time out. She is the ninth two-year-old winner for her sire this season thus far.
William Longsword came up with another winner when his daughter LADY MACBETH scored a convincing win on Monday. That Lorenzo Karriem trained three-year-old made it career win number three when scoring by half a length at Greyville on Monday. Bred by Rathmor Stud, Lady Macbeth (who is bred on the same William Longsword/Galileo cross as G2 winner DYCE), races for Mario Ferreira.
William Longsword was one of three Klawervlei sires to enjoy success at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Monday with CAPTAIN OF ALL’s daughter LADY LEGEND landing Monday’s fifth race and POMODORO filly METEORIC victorious in the sixth race on the Greyville card.
One of the very best sons of his champion sire, William Longsword has four lots on offer at the upcoming August Two Year Old Sale.
