With the curtain having come down on the 2021-2022 racing season, Klawervlei Stud can look back on another wonderful year, with both Klawervlei graduates and Klawervlei sires having enjoyed memorable seasons.

Klawervlei ended the 2021-2022 South African season second on the Leading Breeders premiership by earnings, with Klawervlei Stud bred horses having earned more than R21.025 million last season.

The farm was responsible for nine stakes winners last season, with Klawervlei Stud bred horses capturing no fewer than 12 black type races in the 2021-2022 season.

Among the highlights last season was the Klawervlei Stud bred KOMMETDIEDING (Elusive Fort)’s emphatic win in the G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met, while Klawervlei Stud bred gallopers SILVER OPERATOR (Silvano) and RUSSIAN ROCK (Pomodoro) finished first and second in the G2 Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes.

Klawervlei Stud bred horses also finished first and third in last season’s G2 WSB Club Prive Green Point Stakes, and first and second in the G3 ThisIsRacing Matchem Stakes.

Klawervlei ended the season on a high note with the Klawervlei Stud bred WALK OF FAME (Dynasty) capturing the G3 Western Province Nomads Champagne Stakes at Kenilworth.

Klawervlei’s sires also enjoyed notable success in 2021-2022, with their four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) responsible for six black type winners during the past season including G1 Cape Guineas winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE.

Fellow Klawervlei sire POMODORO (Jet Master) also had a good season, with his representatives including G3 DSTV Gold Vase winner BLACK THORN and G3 Kenilworth Fillies Nursery winner EPSOM GIRL.
