Klawervlei Stud’s triple G1 winning stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) looks to have an exciting three-year-old in the form of TROMPIE.
Trompie defied a lengthy layoff when running out a convincing winner of the Need For Speed Sprint (1000m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday. Under S’Manga Khumalo, the Vaughan Marshall trained Trompie was always travelling strongly and when asked the question, the Captain Of All colt powered away in the closing stages to run out a ready winner by a length and a quarter over favoured HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE (What A Winter).
It was a smart win from Trompie, who had some very smart three-year-olds toiling in his wake! Bred by Beaumont Stud, Trompie has now won twice from just three starts.
Trompie, described by his trainer as a “very, very good horse” in a post-race interview, races for Messrs Gujadhur and Rod Mattheyse.
He is one of several promising three-year-olds representing Captain Of All this season with others including KISS ME CAPTAIN -a brilliant winner of her first three starts.
South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2018-2019, Captain Of All is a proven source of high-class performers with his star progeny headed by such graded stakes winners as LINEBACKER, SHANGO and SPRINGS OF CARMEL.
The former sprint champion has five lots catalogued for this week’s Cape Racing Ready To Run & 2YO Unbroken Sale.
