Klawervlei Stud’s four-time G1 winning stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) enjoyed a wonderful season in 2021-2022 and Twice Over’s great run last season has continued into the new South African racing season.

The former European champion struck yet again when his classy son RESONATE captured the Listed Southeaster Sprint (1100m) at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.

The Candice Bass-Robinson trained gelding was given a well timed ride by Aldo Domeyer, with Domeyer bringing Resonate with a sustained late run to win, going away, by half a length. Among his beaten rivals were such stakes winners as WATERBERRY RAIN (Soft Falling Rain), BEREAVE (Vercingetorix) and G1 winner AMBIOIRIX (Vercingetorix).

Bred by Ridgemont Highlands, four-year-old Resonate has now won five of his 13 starts, with the gelding having also triumped in last season’s Listed Ibhayi Stakes. The son of Twice Over races for Mike Fullard and James Drew.

Twice Over, whose other flagbearers this season include recent Listed Topbet Spring Spree Stakes victor TEAM GOLD, had a memorable time of it in 2021-2022 when his six black type winners included G1 Cape Guineas winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE.

Also sire of dual July winning champion DO IT AGAIN, Twice Over has three lots catalogued for the 2022 Cape Racing Ready To Run & 2YO Unbroken Sale and a well bred colt on offer at this year’s November Two Year Old Sale.
