Klawervlei Stud’s consistently successful sire POMODORO (Jet Master) was responsible for two eye catching winners at Turffontein on Thursday with daughters DANCING DORA and GOLDEN ASPEN winning races three and five respectively.

The very smart Dancing Dora made it three wins in a row when that Fanie Bronkhurst trained filly ran out a convincing winner of Thursday’s Betway Summer Cup 26 November MR 70 Handicap over 1000 metres. Under Chase Maujean, the four-year-old kept going strongly in the closing stages to record a near three-parts of a length win and confirm her status as a progressive sort indeed.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Dancing Dora, who is out of a mare by TWICE OVER (Observatory), races for Bryan & Taryn Spong, Fanie Bronkhorst & Dr Taljaardt.

Pomodoro struck again in the fifth race on the card, when his daughter GOLDEN ASPEN got up in the dying stages of the race to land the Tab4racing FM 89 Handicap (F&M) over 1200m. Under a great ride from Marco Van Rensburg, the Corne Spies trained filly got up on the wire to down the promising VIVACIOUS SPIRIT and score by a head.

Another bred by Klawervlei, Golden Aspen, who has now won six times, races for Mr C F Strydom, Corne Spies Racing (Pty) Ltd & Waste Glass Recovery (Pty) Ltd.

Her sire Pomodoro is no stranger to siring classy fillies, with Pomodoro’s other notable daughters including dual G1 winning champion RETURN FLIGHT, graded stakes winners GOLDEN BELLE and EPSOM GIRL, and two-year-old stakes winner CARALLUMA among others.
