Klawervlei Stud’s bang inform resident sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) is enjoying another fine season in 2022-2023, and the charismatic star struck again over the past weekend, with Twice Over coming up with four more winners.
Twice Over’s first success over the past weekend came when his son ZIG ZAG romped to a near five length win at Fairview on Friday afternoon. Under Sandile Khathi, the Cliffie Miller trained gelding simply powered away to leave his rivals gasping in his wake. Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Zig Zag, who has now won four times, races for the Hollywood Syndicate.
Twice Over had two more winners at the Vaal the following day, where his daughter SECOND BREATH and son TAIKONAUT won races three and six respectively. (Both Second Breath and Taikonaut are out of mares by Klawervlei’s late, great sire CAPTAIN AL).
The Robyn Klaasen trained Second Breath made it two wins from her last four starts when she ran out a one and a three-quarter length winner over 1200m on Saturday. Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Second Breath races for Nu-Atlas Racing.
Promising three-year-old Taikonaut picked up his third win when scoring a courageous win in Saturday’s World Sports Betting Sophomore 1000. Under Muzi Yeni, the Roy Magner came with a late rattle to get up and deny G3 Protea Stakes winner KARANGETANG (Erupt) victory by a neck.
Bred by Cheveley Stud, Taikonaut, who races for Mr Chung, has won or placed in six of eight starts to date, and he won’t stop here.
Twice Over has yet another smart looking three-year-old this season in the form of MUCHO DINERO. The latter caught the eye when scoring an off the pace win at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Sunday for Richard Fourie, Justin Snaith and Nick Jonsson.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, the well bred Mucho Dinero, a R1 400 000 yearling buy, made it back to back wins with a stylish one length win on Sunday.
The promising Mucho Dinero is bred on the same TWICE OVER/CASEY TIBBS cross as champion DO IT AGAIN and the classy, dual stakes winning YOUNG LOVE.
Already responsible for such G1 winning stars as DO IT AGAIN, DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE and SAND AND SEA, Twice Over has been in great form this season, with his notable representatives in 2022-2023 thus far including TEAM GOLD (Topbet Spring Spree Stakes), RESONATE (Southeaster Sprint) and SEE IT AGAIN (Model Man Mile).
