Klawervlei Stud’s homebred G1 Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) looks to have a very promising two-year-old to his name in the form of the regally bred colt DUMBLEDORE.

The latter made the perfect start to his racing career when making a winning debut at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Thursday, and Dumbledore looks a colt to watch in the coming months.

Trained, like his sire and dam, by Vaughan Marshall, Dumbledore was given a fine ride by Corne Orffer to win the first race at Kenilworth in taking fashion.

The son of William Longsword jumped out smartly, and kept finding more in the closing stages to make a winning debut by a neck.

The flashy grey was bred by the BBP Syndicate, and he races for Rikesh Seewgoolam.

His sire William Longsword recently went close to having big race success when his G2 Epol Umkhomazi Stakes winning son DYCE finished a close up second in the World Sports Betting Grand Heritage.

Currently tenth on the South African General Sires List, William Longsword hails from the immediate family of current high-class performers AT MY COMMAND (Querari) and GIMME A PRINCE (Gimmethegreenlight).
