When TOFFAS ran out a convincing winner at the Vaal on Thursday he provided his inform Klawervlei Stud based sire POMODORO with his third success of the week.

The former G1 Vodacom Durban July had earlier enjoyed success when son STAY THE COURSE and daughter TIZ MAGIC won at Fairview and Turffontein respectively.

Trained by Candice Dawson, talented gelding Toffas was given a fine ride by Keagan De Melo, who wasted no time in taking his mount to the front in Thursday’s 1600m race. The gelding kept finding more in the closing stages and galloped on strongly to win a good race by two and a quarter lengths.

Bred by Klawervlei, and owned by Ralphs Racing, Toffas had finished a short-head second, behind subsequent Listed Secretariat Stakes winner JIMMY DON (Pathfork), last time out and this progressive gelding looks to have more wins in the tank.

His inform sire Pomodoro is also responsible for Tuesday’s easy maiden winner TIZ MAGIC as well as STAY THE COURSE, who saluted by a length and three-quarters when victorious over 1000m on Monday.

South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro is also sire of promising three-year-old GOLDEN PROSPECT who finished third in the recent G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes.
