Klawervlei Stud’s four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) is enjoying another good season in 2022-2023 and the former European champion struck again yesterday when Twice Over came up with two winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville.

Twice Over filly GELSOMINA gave her sire his first success on Sunday when she justified favouritism to win the third race, the tabgold -The Intelligent Bet Maiden Plate (F&M) (1600m), on the card. Under Keagan De Melo, the one-eyed Gelsomina hit the front 200m from home and powered away to score by nearly three and three-quarter lengths.

Trained by Wendy Whitehead, the Piemonte Stud bred Gelsomina races for her trainer in partnership with Mr Howard.

Twice Over struck again in the very next race when his Klawervlei Stud bred daughter LUCK OF THE IRIS powered down the inside of the track to land Sunday’s fourth race, the Open A tabGold Account-031 314 1874 Maiden Plate (2400m). Under Nicholas Patel, the MJ Odendaal trained and owned mare got up close home to break her maiden a shade cosily by half a length.

Four time G1 winner Twice Over has already enjoyed plenty of success this season thanks to the likes of G3 Lebelo Sprint winner TAIKONAUT, Southeaster Sprint winner RESONATE,Topbet Spring Spree Stakes hero TEAM GOLD and Model Man Mile victor SEE IT AGAIN.

The sire of G1 winners DO IT AGAIN, DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE and SAND AND SEA has two lots on offer at the upcoming Cape Yearling Sale.
