Klawervlei Stud’s very much inform stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) looks to have a very smart son to his name in the form of MELECH.

The latter, a three-year-old gelding trained by Roy Magner, made it three wins in a row and three wins from just four starts when victorious at Turffontein on Thursday.

Under Raymond Danielson, Melech raced in last place for much of the running in Thursday’s Computaform Online MR 90 Handicap (1450m), before storming home down the inside of the track to win going away by a length and three-quarters. Bred by Riverton Stud, Melech races for owner John Finlayson.

The gelding had finished second on debut before winning his next three starts in a row.

William Longsword’s half-sister DANCE AT DAWN (Trippi) also enjoyed success at Turffontein on Thursday with her son ROBERT BURNS capturing the seventh race on the card.

William Longsword has been in prolific form this year, with his progeny winning good races around South Africa each and every week. The former G1 Cape Guineas hero is currently higher than the likes of RAFEEF (Redoute’s Choice), THE UNITED STATES (Galileo) and FUTURA (Dynasty) on the General Sires List for 2022-2023.
