Klawervlei Stud are having another fantastic season, and the farm struck yet again when the Klawervlei bred ANFIELDS ROCKET (Coup De Grace) won the G1 World Sports Betting SA Classic (1800m) at Turffontein on Saturday.
Trained by Grant Maroun, Anfields Rocket claimed his first G1 win when he stormed home, under a confident ride from Raymond Danielson to land the R1 500 000 SA Classic by a length, while accounting for such promising three-year-old stakes winners as JIMMY DON (Pathfork), BILLY BOWLEGS (The United States), EYE OF THE PROPHET (Gimmethegreenlight), and ROYAL VICTORY (Pathfork).
Anfields Rocket, who races for the Hollywood Syndicate, has now won six of nine starts for earnings of R1 351 875. The gelding, who won the G3 Allied Steelrode Graham Beck Stakes earlier in the season, is out of the GALILEO mare MILLA’S ROCKET.
Anfields Rocket’s great win is another feather in the cap of Klawervlei’s, with Klawervlei bred thoroughbreds having already earned more than R11.937 million for the 2022-2023 season.
Klawervlei bred stallions have also enjoyed great success this season, with the Klawervlei bred VERCINGETORIX (Silvano) currently third on the General Sires log and WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) second on South Africa’s Leading Sires of 3YOs premiership.
