Klawervlei Stud’s bang inform resident sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) looks to have yet another classy sort on his hands in the form of progressive three-year-old LORD WILLIAM.

The latter showed his well being when winning a good race at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Wednesday afternoon. Making his first start since January, the Glen Kotzen trained LORD WILLIAM powered home, under Ashton Arries, to down hard-knocking older rivals FAST LOVE (Master Of My Fate) and BOWIE (Twice Over) by just over a length and by more than two lengths respectively.

The gelded son of William Longsword could now take his place in several of the upcoming KwaZulu-Natal feature races

Bred by Maine Chance Farms, Lord William races for Messrs C D Mitchell & J E Mitchell.

The three-year-old had shown promising form in the Cape, where Lord William’s form included a third, to subsequent G1 Cape Guineas winner CHARLES DICKENS (Trippi), in the 2022 Listed TAB Somerset 1200.

Lord William’s Cape Guineas winning sire William Longsword has a number of promising sorts representing him this season including the undefeated BACK IN BUSINESS and the classy looking MELECH. The latter has won three of his first four races and his last three races in a row.
