Klawervlei Stud’s red hot sire TWICE OVER (Observatory) is enjoying another wonderful season in 2022-2023, and the four-time G1 winner struck again over the weekend when Twice Over came up with three more winners.
Twice Over came up with two winners on Friday, with daughter DUCHESS OF WAR scoring at Borrowdale and son ZIG ZAG victorious at Fairview on the same day.
Bred by Millstream Farm, Duchess Of War made the perfect start to her career when winning on debut for Bridget Stidolph and Mathew Thackeray. Owned by Gin’ll Fix It Syndicate (Nom: Miss K Stidolph), Duchess Of War is bred on the same TWICE OVER/CAPTAIN AL cross as this season’s G3 Lebelo Sprint winner TAIKONAUT.
The Cliffie Miller trained ZIG ZAG claimed his fifth win when he romped home to score by a length and a quarter, when victorious over 2000m at Fairview on Friday. Bred by Maine Chance Farms, the Twice Over gelding races for the Hollywood Syndicate.
Twice Over also looks to have a promising filly to his name in the form of AVOONTOAST, who broke her maiden in spectacular fashion at Turffontein on Saturday. An unlucky third on debut, the Joe Soma trained three-year-old demolished her rivals when romping home to score by five and a half lengths over 1400m on Saturday.
Bred by the same Twice Over/Casey Tibbs cross as former Horse Of The Year DO IT AGAIN and multiple stakes winner YOUNG LOVE, the Narrow Creek Stud bred Avoontoast races for Renier Graham.
Twice Over has had a superb season this year, with the champion’s flagbearers headed by the uber-promising G1 Splashout Cape Derby winner SEE IT AGAIN.
