Klawervlei’s red hot sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) has been in fine form of late, and the former Cape Guineas victor’s great run continued at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Wednesday when William Longsword came up with two more winners.
William Longsword filly ELECTRIC FEELS provided her sire with his first success on Wednesday when she captured the fourth race on the card for the training partnership of Harold Crawford and Michelle Rix. Under a strong ride from Morne Winaar, the three-year-old kept finding more in the closing stages to break her maiden with a near half-length score.
Bred by the Birch Bros, Electric Feels races for The Red Sole Syndicate.
Her sire struck again on Wednesday when William Longsword gelding CONTIGUOUS ran out a brave winner of the fifth race run at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. Under the red-hot Richard Fourie, the Vaughan Marshall trained gelding pulled out all the stops in a thrilling finish which saw Contiguous get up in the shadow of the post to get off the mark with a short-head triumph. Remarkably, the first four homes in this contest were all sired by Klawervlei Stud based stallions! Bred by Klawervlei, Contiguous, who races for Bernard Kantor, had finished second in three of his first four starts.
His sire William Longsword is having a tremendous run of late, with the sire’s recent notable winners headed by the stakes winners LORD WILLIAM (WSB Sledgehammer) and VIRGINIA SWEET (East Cape Oaks), as well as the promising three-year-old BRAVE VIKING.
The son of Captain Al has four lots on offer at this week’s National Yearling Sale -a filly (Lot 46) out of Listed Oaks Trial winner SALUTATION (Requiem), a colt (Lot 79) out of a stakes winning daughter of multiple champion sire SILVANO (Lomitas), a full-brother (Lot 89) to Listed Secretariat Stakes winner BON VIVANT, and a colt (Lot 141) out of a stakes placed daughter of WHAT A WINTER (Western Winter).
