Klawervlei Stud’s well performed young stallion ROYAL MO (Uncle Mo) has more than made his mark with runners from his small first crop winning good races all over South Africa, and Royal Mo struck again when his son MO THE MAN won at Turffontein on Champions Day this past weekend.
The Johan Janse Van Vuuren trained three-year-old Mo The Man justified tote favouritism when he landed the spoils with a game performance in the third race run on Saturday.
Under a fine ride from log-leading jockey Keagan De Melo, the son of Royal Mo was produced close home with a strong late rattle to get up and win Saturday’s World Sports Betting Grooms Initiative Maiden Plate (1600m) a shade cosily by half a length.
Bred by Stone Hill Stud, Mo The Man had finished a close up third last time out –to yet another son of Royal Mo in the form of the progressive BOB’S YOUR UNCLE.
Winner of the G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes and third in the G1 Santa Anita Derby, Royal Mo has made his presence felt through the deeds of his classy son ROYAL AUSSIE. A member of his sire’s first crop, Royal Aussie has already earned more than R5 million in prize money.
Royal Mo is a son of outstanding sire UNCLE MO, whose numerous top-class three-year-olds this season include the unbeaten G2 Louisiana Derby winner, and G1 Kentucky Derby hopeful, KINGSBARNS and G3 Southwest Stakes victor ARABIAN KNIGHT.
