Klawervlei Stud has had another wonderful season in 2022-2023, and the farm struck international gold on Wednesday when the Klawervlei bred SUPER COMMANDER (Vercingetorix) won in Hong Kong.

Under Luke Ferraris, the gelded Super Commander showed tremendous gate speed early on in Wednesday’s Sha Wan Handicap, before hitting the front inside the final furlong and staying on to win convincingly by three-parts of a length.

Ferraris has now won twice on the six-year-old both times when trained by his fourth trainer in Hong Kong Pierre Ng (he started out there trained by Tony Millard before moving to David Ferraris and upon the latter’s retirement he was trained by Chris So before moving to Ng this season).

Remarkably, Klawervlei bred not only Super Commander but also the latter’s outstanding sire Vercingetorix.

Out of the Captain Al mare WAR PATH, Super Commander has now won four times in Hong Kong, with the gelding having earned more than $3.412 million in prize money.

Super Commander raced in South Africa under the name of FEARLESS WARRIOR, where he won twice from just four starts and ran second in the 2019 G3 Cape Of Good Hope Nursery.

Klawervlei Stud have also once again enjoyed tremendous success in South Africa this season -the farm having already supplied a trio of stakes winners and Klawervlei bred runners have earned more than R15.535 million this season thus far.
