Klawervlei Stud’s homebred Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) has been in wonderful form this season, and the Klawervlei resident struck yet again when William Longsword filly JUST BE LEKKER made a winning debut at Turffontein on Sunday afternoon.

A two-year-old trained by Candice Dawson, Just Be Lekker was always travelling nicely in Sunday’s 4Racing Thanks and Appreciates Heather Adamson Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) (1160m), and, when asked the question by JP Van Der Merwe, quickened up smartly to blow past her rivals and win, going away, by nearly a length and a half.

Bred by the Ralphs Syndicate, Just Be Lekker races for Ralphs Racing.

The filly is the sixth two-year-old winner this season for William Longsword, whose other promising juveniles this season include DUMBLEDORE, KUPHOLIWE, FIBONACCI, and WILLIAM IRON ARM.

William Longsword went close to having another big day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, with his daughter TAMIL TIGRESS finishing third in Saturday’s Listed Hollywoodbets Super League Devon Air Stakes, son KUPHOLIWE running fourth in Saturday’s Listed The Sharks Gatecrasher Stakes, and another son, LORD WILLIAM, taking the third spot in Saturday’s G3 Hollywoodbets Dolphins Cup Trial.

Also sire of this season’s G3 WSB Legal Eagle Stakes winner ITSRAININGWILLIAM and Listed East Cape Oaks winner VIRGINIA SWEET, William Longsword has seven yearlings on this week’s Cape Racing Winter Mixed Sale.
