Klawervlei Stud’s bang inform sire TWICE OVER (Observatory), who looks on track for a potentially big day at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday, came up with a very smart looking debut winner on Saturday.

The Twice Over sired two-year-old DOUBLE OLYMPIC, a three-parts brother to this season’s Listed Topbet Spring Spree Stakes winner TEAM GOLD, made the perfect start to his career when downing older rivals to claim the second race run at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth on Saturday.

Trained by Brett Crawford, Double Olympic defied a tardy start in Saturday’s Cape Racing Sales Open Maiden (1200m) when powering home, under Louis Mxothwa, to score a half-length win at the first time of asking.

Bred by Wilgerbosdrift & Mauritzfontein, Double Olympic races for Ravi Naidoo and Prakashni Pillay.

The colt was a R225 000 buy from the 2022 National Yearling Sale.

His four time G1 winning sire TWICE OVER, whose daugher MARI MARIE won at Fairview on Friday,  is also the sire of high-class filly YOUNG LOVE, who caught the eye when finishing third in Saturday’s Listed World Sports Betting Stormsvlei Stakes at Kenilworth.

Twice Over is set to be represented by dual July winner DO IT AGAIN and the latter’s multiple G1 winning relative SEE IT AGAIN in Saturday’s G1 Hollywoodbets Durban July, with the stallion’s son SENSO UNICO a runner in the G3 DSTV Gold Vase on the same day.
