Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) made waves at Thursday’s KZN Yearling Sale where the champion sprinter was responsible for the second lot sold at the auction.
Consigned by Cheveley Stud, as Agent, the Captain Of All colt CAPTAINSHIP (Lot 97) was knocked down to Scott Gaskell for R675 000 making him the second top lot and second top priced colt sold at the 2023 KZN Sale.

His triple G1 winning sire CAPTAIN OF ALL, one of the very best sons of Klawervlei’s late, great sire Captain Al, has enjoyed another good week this week. Not only have Captain Of All progeny shone in the sales ring, Captain Of All was responsible for a smart looking double at the Vaal on Tuesday afternoon.

The Riverton Stud bred KING RAHUL became Captain Of All’s latest two-year-old winner when he captured the Vaal’s third race, the Book For July Day In Jozi On 011 681 1796 Maiden Plate (1000m) for Corne Spies and Muzi Yeni. Racing for Mr Wayne Pillay and Corne Spies Racing (Pty) Ltd, the progressive King Rahul had finished second in his two starts prior to Tuesday’s win.

His sire struck yet again on Tuesday when Captain Of All gelding CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT won the eighth race on the card for Tony Peter and Denis Schwarz. Racing for the Sham family, the classy Captain Hindsight, who was bred by Klawervlei Stud, was winning for a seventh time, with Captain Hindsight having now earned nearly R700 000 in prize money.

Captain Of All went close to enjoying a four-timer on Tuesday with his two-year-old son CAPTAIN WARA, bred, like his sire, by Riverton Stud, finished a close-up second in the second race run at the Vaal, with yet another son of the sire, CAPTAIN DIZZY, finishing second in the seventh race.
