Klawervlei Stud’s triple G1 winning stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has had a wonderful few days, and the former Equus Champion was at it again when supplying two eye-catching two-year-old winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday.
His first success on Sunday came in the form of PORTO ZANTE, with that filly putting up a smart display to win the third race on the card, the Brokersure Insurance Group Maiden Juvenile Plate (Fillies) over 1500 metres.
Under Richard Fourie, the Glen Kotzen-trained Porto Zante skipped clear of her rivals 200m from home and powered away to win comfortably by just over a length and a quarter. It was just Porto Zante’s third start on Sunday, with the Ndoro Stud-bred filly having finished third last time out. Owned by Marc Greene, Porto Zante is the tenth two-year-old winner for Captain Of All this season.
Captain Of All is also the sire of another smart two-year-old filly in the form of CAPTAIN’S CHRISTY, with that Mark Dixon-trained filly having finished third in the G3 Strelitzia Stakes earlier this season. Captain’s Christy made it two wins from just six starts when she downed some talented older rivals to win Sunday’s Savages FC 141st Anniversary FM 76 Handicap (1000m) going away. Under Cole Dicken, the two-year-old stormed home from off the pace to get up close home and score by half a length for owners Jay Joseph, Kevin Rice and Mark Dixon.
The race was a triumph for Captain Of All, whose daughters Captain’s Christy and POURSOMESUGARONME finished first and third respectively.
Himself the winner of the G1 Gold Medallion at two, Captain Of All has some very promising two-year-olds this season including G2 World Sports Betting SA Nursery runner-up JERUSALEMA RAIN and impressive debut winner MEU CAPITANO.
