Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory)’s great start to the 2023-2024 season continued when the four-time G1 winner came up with a trio of winners on Wednesday. Not only did Twice Over supply a pair of winners at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday, his son PREEMPTIVE STRIKE scored a convincing win at Hollywoodbets Greyville on the same day.
His Adam Marcus trained daughter YOU WIN AGAIN became Twice Over’s first Wednesday winner when she won the third race at Durbanville. Under Craig Zackey, the Klawervlei bred filly stormed home to land the Cape Turf Club Syndicates Open Maiden Plate (F&M (1250m) by half a length. Making just her fourth career start on Wednesday, You Win Again is owned by Bernard Kantor in partnership with Darryl Yutar and HN Yutar.
Twice Over’s second success at Durbanville on Wednesday came when his Justin Snaith trained son MUCHO DINERO ran out a convincing winner of the World Sports Betting Spinawina Slots Cape B Stakes (1800m). Under Grant Van Niekerk, the Drakenstein Stud bred four-year-old hit the front full of running and powered away to win convincingly by three-parts of a length.
One of four runners to represent Twice Over in last season’s G1 Splashout Cape Derby, the Nick Jonsson owned Mucho Dinero is bred on the same Twice Over/Casey Tibbs cross as the now retired champion DO IT AGAIN.
Twice Over’s success carried over to KwaZulu-Natal where his Stuart Ferrie trained son PREEMPTIVE STRIKE claimed the fifth race run at Greyville on Wednesday. Under Sean Veale, Preemptive Strike claimed the fourth win of his career when scoring by just over a length. Bred by Klawervlei Stud, the consistent Preemptive Strike has finished in the top four in each of his last six starts. The gelding races for Mark Currie and Erich Buhr.
The sire of G1 winners DO IT AGAIN, DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE, SAND AND SEA and SEE IT AGAIN, Twice Over is set to be represented by his high-class sons SMORGASBORD and TEAM GOLD in Saturday’s Listed Betway Spring Spree Stakes, with Team Gold having won last year’s Topbet Spring Spree Stakes.
