Star stallion UNCLE MO (Indian Charlie), whose son ROYAL MO stands at Klawervlei, enjoyed an exceptional weekend this week. Not only is Uncle Mo sire of Sunday’s brilliant G2 Zenyatta Stakes winner ADARE MANOR, but Uncle Mo’s champion son NYQUIST was responsible for Saturday’s G1 Awesome Again Stakes winner SLOW DOWN ANDY.
The inform Adare Manor made it five wins in a row when she romped home to a five and a quarter length win in Sunday’s Zenyatta Stakes, with Adare Manor making all to coast home to win as she liked in the Zenyatta Stakes.
The four-year-old has won four graded races this year, including the G1 Clement L. Hirsch Stakes and is now headed to the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff.
Adare Manor is one of 13 stakes winners, and three G1 winners, for Uncle Mo in 2023 thus far, with the champion son of Indian Charlie response for an impressive 30 stakes horses this year.
Uncle Mo’s Kentucky Derby winning son NYQUIST has also had a wonderful year in 2023, and the former champion struck again when his son Slow Down Andy won Saturday’s Awesome Again Stakes in front running fashion. Sent off as the favorite in the field of nine, Slow Down Andy, a graded stakes winner on both dirt and turf, broke sharply and was sent immediately to the front by jockey Mario Gutierrez to set the pace. Slow Down Andy continued to lead the way down the backstretch and into the far turn, where defending champ, Defunded, ranged up on the leader’s outside. Slow Down Andy quickly spurted away and continued to open up through the stretch, eventually crossing the wire to win by two lengths.
His sire Nyquist has been responsible for eight black type winners in 2023 so far, including G1 Alabama Stakes queen RANDOMIZED and G2 Queen Mary Stakes winner CRIMSON ADVOCATE.
Uncle Mo’s G3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes winning son ROYAL MO looks set to be represented by his R5 million plus earning son ROYAL AUSSIE in next weekend’s G3 Hollybets Matchem Stakes. The classy Royal Mo has two lots on offer at the upcoming Cape Racing Ready To Run And Unbroken Two Year Old Sale.
