Klawervlei Stud’s G1 Cape Guineas winning sire WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) struck twice at the Vaal on WSB Grand Heritage Day this past Saturday.

Not only did the Klawervlei homebred supply an impressive debut winner on Saturday in the form of SABRE STRIKE, his classy son RULERSHIP put a smart field to the sword when scoring handsomely over 1000 metres on Saturday.

Three-year-old Sabre Strike stamped himself a horse to watch when romping home on debut for Lucky Houdalakis and Craig Zackey, with Sabe Strike going on to win as he liked by four and three-quarter lengths.

Bred and owned by Peter Van Schoor, Sabre Strike is a three-parts brother to the very smart performer CAPTAIN OF STEALTH.

William Longsword is also the sire of the very speedy RULERSHIP, who made a big impression when landing Saturday’s Spina Wina At WSB Pinnacle Stakes. Now in the care of Tony Peter, the Cecil Baitz owned Rulership was always going well under Calvin Habib on Saturday, and, when asked the question, kicked away to account for his talented stablemate CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT (Captain Of All) by a length and three quarters.

Bred by Cecil Baitz and Dr Baitz, Rulership, who made it back to back wins with his victory on Saturday, has now won five times in all and he won’t stop here.

His sire William Longsword is enjoying another great season and has been responsible for more winners in South Africa this season than the likes of RAFEEF (Redoute’s Choice), LANCASTER BOMBER (War Front), PATHFORK (Distorted Humor), and SILVANO (Lomitas).
