Klawervlei Stud’s inform stallion WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) had a notable sale at Thursday’s Cape Racing Premier Yearling Sale Powered By Tattersalls.
The former G1 Cape Guineas winner had yearlings make up to R750 000 at the Premier Sale, with William Longsword’s good recent run appearing to pay dividends in the sales ring.
His top lot, an unnamed colt (Lot 7) consigned by Klawervlei Stud, as Agent, was sold to Playgate SA for R750 000.
The well-bred colt is out of the GALILEO (Sadler’s Wells) mare ZIPPY ZITTER and is thus bred on the same William Longsword/Galileo cross as this season’s G3 New Turf Carriers Merchants/Listed Golden Loom Handicap winner DYCE.
William Longsword is having a wonderful season in 2023-2024, and his progeny have won more black type races this season at the time of writing than the likes of FLOWER ALLEY (Distorted Humor), SILVANO (Lomitas), VERCINGETORIX (Silvano) and DYNASTY (Fort Wood).
The son of Captain Al is set to be represented in Saturday’s G1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship by his brilliant son Dyce and he has no fewer than four runners in Saturday’s R7 500 000 Cape Racing Gold Rush.
William Longsword has four lots on offer at the 2024 Cape Yearling Sale -watch this space!
