Klawervlei Stud’s homebred Cape Guineas winner WILLIAM LONGSWORD (Captain Al) has some very smart two-year-olds this season, and the son of Captain Al came up with another juvenile winner this season when his daughter WILLY MEET AGAIN won impressively at the Vaal on Thursday.

Runner up on her only previous start, when beaten only by G3 TAB Pretty Polly Stakes winner SIMPLY MAJESTIC (Canford Cliffs), the Lucky Houdalakis trained Willy Meet Again turned Thursday’s Play Soccer 6, 10 and 13 Maiden Plate (F&M) into a procession.

Under Craig Zackey, the William Longsword powered home to win as she liked by four and a quarter lengths. The winning jockey described Willy Meet Again as a “lovely filly” in the post-race interview, and she looks to be an exciting prospect.

Bred and owned by David Shawe, Willy Meet Again is the seventh two-year-old winner this season for William Longsword, with the latter having come up with more juvenile winners in 2023-2024 than the likes of BUFFALO BILL CODY (Redoute’s Choice), DANON PLATINA (Deep Impact), RAFEEF (Redoute’s Choice) and VAR (Forest Wildcat).

William Longsword has had a wonderful season in 2023-2024 with his flagbearers also including G1 World Pool Cape Flying Championship/G3 New Turf Carriers Merchants winner DYCE, G3 Betway Lebelo Sprint hero RULERSHIP and Listed Secretariat Stakes winner SABRE STRIKE.
