Klawervlei Stud’s multiple G1 winning stallion CAPTAIN OF ALL (Captain Al) has enjoyed a great few days, and the former Equus Champion was at it again when coming up with a trio of winners over the weekend.

Captain Of All looks to have a very smart prospect to his name in the form of three-year-old filly FIERY PEGASUS. The latter made it three wins from five starts when landing the first race at Turffontein on Saturday.

Under a strong ride from Muzi Yeni, the Joe Soma trained three-year-old flew up down the outside of the track to get up close home and land the Betway Welcomes You Graduation Plate (1450m) by a head.

Beaten just over two lengths, by champion QUID PRO QUO (Lance), in last season’s G1 Allan Robertson Championship, the classy Fiery Pegasus was bred by Greenacres Trust in partnership with Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud.

The three-year-old races for Messrs J R Blumberg, D Chinsammy, R G Coppin, E Naicker,B M Nassif, G, K & M M Nassif,Mr B & Mrs K Ncube, MGAS Bloodstock, and the Kisten Pillay Racing Syndicate.

Fiery Pegasus was one of two winners on Saturday for her sire, with Captain Of All mare SHE’S MY CAPTAIN winning a good race at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. Under Gareth Wright, the Harold Crawford/Michelle Rix trained mare was always up with the speed, racing just off the front runners early on. Under a strong ride, She’s My Captain dug down deep to beat favourite ROCCAPINA (One World) by a short-head.

Now a six time winner, the Klawervlei Stud bred She’s My Captain races for Adrian Long and Michelle Rix. The classy mare, who has finished first, second or third in her last five starts, has banked more than R530 000 in stakes.

Remarkably daughters of Captain Of All ran 1-3-4 in the Hope & Dreams Stud Class 4, with She’s My Captain relegating her paternal half-sisters BONNE BOUCHE and HEAR MY VOICE to the third and fourth placings respectively.

Captain Of All’s good form continued when his smart son THE SHEPHERD won at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday. Under Sean Veale, the Klawervlei Stud bred gelding powered home to claim the Pound Bloodstock MR 92 Handicap (1400m) by nearly a length and a half.

Owned by the Hollywood Syndicate, the Peter Muscutt trained The Shepherd had shown high-class form earlier on and finished second, to subsequent Horse Of The Year DAVE THE KING (Global View), last season.

The gelding has now won four of just 11 starts and looks unlikely to stop here.
