Klawervlei Stud’s resident stallion TWICE OVER (Observatory) came up with an eye catching winner on Friday.
His classy daughter OFFICIAL SECRET turned Friday’s Betway Wedgewood Handicap (2200m) into a one horse romp, with the mare running out a seven and a half length winner.
Under Richard Fourie, the Alan Greeff trained Official Secret raced at the back of the field early on. Official Secret powered up into the lead with 1000m left to run, and from there it was just a matter of who would run second.
Official Secret had looked unlucky not to win her penultimate start when a close second in the Friendly City Stakes.
Bred by Drakenstein Stud, the six-year-old is owned by Mr Moor.
Official Secret is bred on very similar lines to Twice Over’s high-class son SAND AND SEA, the winner of the 2017 G1 Gold Medallion.
Twice Over, whose progressive son OLIVER recently reeled off a hatrick of wins, is a top-class stallion whose progeny also include former Horse Of The Year, and dual G1 Vodacom Durban July winner DO IT AGAIN, the latter’s multiple G1 winning three-parts brother SEE IT AGAIN and 2024 G1 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met winner DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE.
Twice Over had an impressive four runners in the 2023 G1 SplashOut Cape Derby, was won by See It Again.
