Klawervlei Stud’s July winning sire POMODORO (Jet Master) has made a fine start to the new South African racing season, and he struck again on Monday when his daughter OH SO SQUISHY ran out an eye catching winner at Hollywoodbets Greyville.

Under Malesela Katjedi (who is unbeaten on the filly), Oh So Squishy made much of the running in Monday’s Soccer Any15 FM88 Handicap (F&M) (1800m) to win easily by three lengths.

In the process, the Glen Kotzen trained filly made it back to back wins, with Oh So Squishy having won her last start by over three lengths.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Oh So Squishy races for Messrs M C Higgs, Glen Kotzen, G C Swartz & P C Wareley & Mr F L & Mrs P Oostendorp.

Out of the DYNASTY (Fort Wood mare) Squashy Joy, Oh So Squishy is bred on the same Pomodoro/Dynasty cross as last season’s G3 DSTV Gold Vase winner BLACK THORN.

Her sire Pomodoro is no stranger to siring above-average fillies, with Pomodoro’s notable daughters including dual G1 winner, and Equus Champion, RETURN FLIGHT, last season’s G2 Zulu Kingdom Explorer Golden Slipper runner up WOODLAND RETREAT, and such graded stakes winners as EPSOM GIRL and GOLDEN BELLE to name but a few.

South Africa’s Leading First Season Sire of 2017-2018, Pomodoro has six lots on offer at this week’s August Two Year Old Sale.
